For international arrivals, Genève Aéroport, approximately 50 kilometres away, is a very practical option with bus and rail connections to Annecy, while Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport is an additional option, also connected by train and coach. Thanks to the concentration of transport services around the station and the developed local network, reaching halls and stadiums is straightforward even without a car.
Before or after an event, it is worth walking through Annecy's old town, along the canals and the Thiou river, and stopping at Palais de l'Île, one of the city's most recognisable sights. The walk can easily continue towards the shore of Lake Annecy, across Pont des Amours and through Jardins de l'Europe, while Château d'Annecy above the historic centre provides an additional cultural attraction. This proximity of historic landmarks, water, mountain scenery and event venues makes it easy to combine a concert or match with a short city break.
