About this venue
Semperoper is one of Europe’s most recognisable opera houses, renowned for Gottfried Semper’s monumental architecture combining Late Classical forms with Renaissance elements. The present building preserves the historic character of the celebrated opera house, while its auditorium offers around 1,300 seats across the stalls and four circles, creating a more intimate experience than its imposing exterior might suggest.
The richly decorated interior is designed for opera, ballet and concerts, with outstanding acoustics among the Semperoper’s most celebrated qualities. The auditorium is centred on the stage and orchestra pit, while visitor facilities include a cloakroom, box office, a lift serving the stalls and first three circles, and other amenities for a comfortable experience before and during performances.
