About this venue
Budapest Operetta Theater is one of Hungary’s leading musical theatres and a renowned home of operetta and musical productions. The building was designed in 1894 by the celebrated Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, while its historic ornamentation was restored during an extensive reconstruction carried out between 1999 and 2001. The main auditorium has 901 seats and combines the character of a classical European theatre with modern stage technology.
The interior features tiered boxes, gilded stucco, velvet-covered walls and a century-old chandelier above the auditorium. Air conditioning and a layout created for musical theatre provide an impressive visual and acoustic setting for operettas, musicals, gala performances and other stage productions.
