About this venue

Auditorium at Kursaal Donostia is the main hall of the distinctive Kursaal complex, one of San Sebastián's architectural landmarks. Designed by Rafael Moneo, the complex consists of two large translucent-glass cubes conceived as rocks resting by the sea. The Auditorium accommodates around 1,806 visitors, while its scale and fully equipped stage make it suitable for concerts, opera and theatre performances, and other major cultural events.

The interior was designed with particular attention to exceptional acoustics and clear views of the stage. The venue features a stage of approximately 350 m², modern lighting, sound and projection systems, and technical facilities capable of supporting demanding productions. Comfortable seating and well-organised foyer areas help audiences move efficiently before and after events.

The venue is located at Zurriola Hiribidea 1, San Sebastián, Spain, directly beside the waterfront and the mouth of the Urumea River. Underground parking is connected with the complex by lifts and stairways, while local public transport stops are also available nearby. For broader information on reaching the area from other parts of the city, railway stations or the airport, see the San Sebastián guide below.

About the city

San Sebastián (Donostia), an elegant Basque coastal gem, stands out as one of Europe’s most appealing destinations for top-tier concerts and sporting events. The city blends a relaxed seaside pace with big-city comforts, making it easy to pair an event night with a genuinely indulgent stay. Its sense of order, safety, and well-structured visitor offer keeps everything simple and stress-free, even on a short trip.

A key advantage is smart connectivity: the Dbus city bus network links major neighborhoods and provides quick access to the main arenas and sports locations. For rail arrivals, the primary station is San Sebastián–Donostia (Estación del Norte), while regional connections are also convenient via Euskotren at Amara / Easo. If you fly in, the nearest option is San Sebastián Airport (EAS) in Hondarribia, giving the city excellent access for both spontaneous weekend breaks and planned getaways.

Before or after an event, the city becomes the perfect backdrop for strolling and sightseeing: the bay and beach of La Concha are ideal for unwinding, while Parte Vieja and the surrounding streets deliver a lively local atmosphere and the aromas of Basque cuisine. For sweeping views, head up to Monte Urgull, and if you enjoy architecture and photography, follow the Urumea river and explore the city’s elegant squares. In San Sebastián, a great event naturally turns into a complete travel experience.
