About this venue
St. Peter is one of Zurich’s most important historic churches and the city’s oldest parish church. Its present Baroque nave was completed in the early 18th century, while older parts of the structure reflect a much longer history on the site. The massive tower is especially distinctive, with four clock faces measuring approximately 8.64 metres in diameter and ranking among the largest church clock faces in Europe. The church can accommodate up to around 590 people in a seated configuration, making it suitable for larger musical and ceremonial events as well as religious services.
Inside, Baroque elegance is balanced by the comparatively restrained character of a Protestant church. The bright nave and galleries create a spacious yet intimate atmosphere, while the excellent acoustics are one of the main reasons St. Peter regularly hosts classical and sacred music concerts. Paradeplatz is a convenient tram stop for visitors, with the main entrance approximately a five-minute walk away through the surrounding pedestrian streets and the square in front of the church. Vehicle access in the immediate area is restricted, and parking directly at the property is available only with the appropriate permits, so approaching on foot from the surrounding streets is generally the simplest option.
